Celebrating 10 years of DairyFlow – with Scott Baird

Dairyflow10thAnniversary23Here at DairyFlow we are celebrating being at the forefront of milking technology in Scotland for 10 years.  Having been with the company for over six years I thought I’d take you through what we’ve been up to over the past decade…

In the last ten years we’ve installed over 100 new parlours.  We put this success as testament to our expertise and commitment to service for the region’s dairy farmers.

We’ve installed all types of milking parlours on farms in Central and the West of Scotland for farmers with wide-ranging objectives and requirements.

Parlours installed include rotaries, rapid exits, sequential bailing units, herringbones and more recently robotic milking systems, which is an exciting step forward for both us and farmers alike.  To help producers achieve their targets in production, all parlours are equipped with the latest automatic technology for recording yields and monitoring herd health, management and fertility.

The DairyFlow team

We’ve rapidly expanded the business over the years to a team of 11.  Dealer principal, Dave Stobo, who originally started as a technician from L.S Smellie in Strathaven, and office administrator Julie Grayson, have both been with us since the beginning and have seen many changes to dairy farming during this time.

We’ve a team of technical engineers who provide a 24 hour comprehensive break down service seven days a week, 365 days a year should any problems arise.

Jamie Lindsay

Jamie Lindsay

Jamie Lindsay runs our dedicated sales van which operates on  a four weekly cycle covering the areas of Argyll & Bute, Ayrshire, Dunbartonshire, Fife, Glasgow, Kincardineshire, Lanarkshire, Lothians, Perthshire, Renfrewshire, and Stirlingshire.

Jamie took over the van round from me a couple of years ago and can help provide practical and cost-effective solutions on dairy hygiene, milking and cow housing management issues.

We operate from Wheatrig Farm, previously a working dairy farm up until a few years ago.  We also have a store here supplying items for any dairy need ranging from chemicals to wellington boots and gloves.

Being a part of GEA Farm Technologies

We’ve always been an authorised Westfalia dealer but became part of GEA Farm Technologies (formerly WestfaliaSurge) in 2010.  This has meant that we can provide everything but the shed to all dairy farmers including:

  • Dairy hygiene products
  • Houle slurry equipment
  • Kraiburg flooring
  • LED lighting solutions
  • Parlours and updates
  • MIone automatic milking systems
  • Milk cooling
  • Mullerup automatic feeding
  • Royal De Boer and Norbco livestock housing equipment
  • Service and spares.

We also receive ongoing training to ensure that staff continually expand and develop their knowledge.

We are associate members of the Milking Equipment Association (MEA) which means that we are supporting the drive to encourage a demand for high quality engineers across the dairy industry.  Our technicians are ParlourSafe accredited which means you have highly skilled and qualified people working on your equipment.

Working with you and the community

We’ve built good relationships with all of our customers, some having been with us for 10 years and some more recently.  Many of which are happy for others considering a new parlour to visit their farms to help in their decision making process.

DairyFlow farm open day

We’ve held a number of open days on farm which have let farmers come and see our work, the equipment and most of all talk to the farmer who’s working with the equipment two or three times a day.  We will continue to do this so watch out for more information in our newsletters or keep an eye out here on our website.

Supporting the YFC

We understand the importance of supporting the community too and work a lot with Young Farmers Clubs.  We believe it’s important to support the YFC as they are the next generation.

Most importantly…

Without your continued support and custom our success over the past 10 years wouldn’t have been possible and from everyone at DairyFlow we thank you for that!
